Don Nygord’s Notes
Donald
C. Nygord passed away December 26, 2004. He is now at peace and without
pain. He was a champion to the very end. This world will miss you, Don
Nygord!
Don Nygord shot for over 30 years and for 22 straight years was a member of the US Shooting Team, competing in Olympic style pistol shooting all over the world. He was National Champion 16 times, was a member of the 1984 and 1988 US Olympic Teams, and was the 1981 World Champion in Air Pistol with a score only two points off the World Record at that time. His US Free Pistol record of 574 has stood for over a decade. Don held over 40 other National Records.
Don earned the Distinguished Pistol Shot Badge in 1966 and the Distinguished International Shooter Badge in 1979.
The following "Tips" articles are the result of Don’s extensive experience in International shooting and are offered to help both the new and the experienced shooter improve his or her performance. Our sincere thanks go to Donna Nygord for her generous permission to allow us to post these here for the benefit of our readers.
